‘We must commit to inclusive education for children with disabilities. Here's how’
On the Devex blog (23 July 2018), Nidhi Singal (REAL Centre, University of Cambridge) and Nafisa Baboo (Light for the World), ask what governments must consider to ensure that children with disabilities benefit from quality education without discrimination.
The blog cooincided with the first Global Disability Summit in July in London hosted by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), the Government of Kenya and the International Disability Alliance aimed to promote the rights of people with disabilities by tackling the root causes of stigma, discrimination and abuse, and working towards inclusive education and employment for all. The summit brought together global leaders, government officials, donor agencies, civil society, disabled people’s organisations and the private sector to ensure people with disabilities are included in both policy making and society as a whole.
Inclusive education was a key theme of the summit and the Impact Initiative were delighted to be there to promote the importance of better evidence and data to inform policy and practice.
