Social Protection and Disability: A Call for Action

This project examines the living conditions and sources of finance and social support, among older people living in the seven poorest countries of the former Soviet Union through the socio-economic transformations of the last 15 years.
Examining the politics of welfare programmes in Africa, i.e. what ‘works’ politically and why, and analysing the political conditions and factors that either favour or impede the implementation of social assistance programmes.

India's National Rural Employment Guarantee Act contains transparency mechanisms to ensure that resources and information reach the poor. This project assesses the Act to examine the degree that transparency mechanisms enhance poor people's access to information.
